Our employees gave us an eNPS of 79, and we earned Great Place to Work certification with a Trust Index of 96%. Wonderful - but above all a confirmation of how people experience working here. And that story is best told by the people themselves. So we're starting a series of blogs in which colleagues show, in their own words, what it's like to work at Momentum.
Numbers confirm, people tell the story
An eNPS of 79 and our Great Place to Work certification are great milestones. But ultimately they mostly confirm something we feel every day: people enjoy working here. And that is what matters most.
So we're turning it around. Instead of us telling you how good it is here, we're handing the mic to the people who live it every day. What does their week look like? How do they notice the culture and the core values? And what does "we make people happy" - written large on our wall - actually mean to them?
Who can tell it better than they can?
We also want people who are considering applying here to know what it's really like. Because what I often hear is this: "I read it all on the website, really nice and enthusiastic. But when I came in for an interview, I heard exactly the same from the people themselves." We get that confirmation time and again - whether or not someone ends up joining us.
Who can best tell you what it's like to work here? The people who work here. Not HR with a polished story, and not a manager with a sales pitch.
Why I fell for the culture myself
A little about me: I came to work here because I fell for the culture too. It started with a great, fast contact with our recruiter: quick, good and honest feedback, and conversations that were simply enjoyable. And that is exactly where the core values already showed up: act like an owner, bring a personal smile, help others the way you'd want to be helped, and yes, I can. Not as a sales pitch, but simply how things go here.
What I understood then is that those core values don't just live in recruitment - they show up every week. In our company and quarterly updates we highlight examples of behaviour that fit a core value. And we don't have to go looking for that behaviour; it's simply there. We just name it, and that shows how important people are to us.
Culture you see every week
It's easy to say "we make people happy". Nice and all, but you have to show it. And we do - concretely.
Every week we ask how happy people are, and how things stand on things like energy, workload and work-life balance. Every week, so we can actually act on it. If something isn't going well, we can do something about it straight away. We grow and develop fast, so you have to act on what people tell you.
And we regularly have something to celebrate. Successes are worth celebrating, big or small - even when you're simply doing your own job and doing it really well. Many people are modest about that, but by naming exceptional behaviour you reinforce it. And you have a lot of fun along the way.
This is the start of the series. In the coming period we'll hand the mic to our colleagues - read along to see what it's like to work at Momentum, told by the people who do it every day.
