The old setup relied on internet-based VPN, branch firewall appliances and an MPLS line for China. The result was service interruptions, large swings in performance and latency, while outsourced firewall management meant updates could take up to two weeks, right as malware attacks were growing faster and more sophisticated.
Working with Momentum, Hoyer implemented Cato's cloud-based SASE platform: SD-WAN with high availability across multiple internet connections, equal benefits for every location, plus Cato MDR. It is a complete solution the internal IT team can update and operate itself, so control stays in house. The improvement, especially in China, was remarkable, even in outer regions where a 4G connection is normally not possible.
